i had big ambitions for this year's eggnog blog, unfortunately i have to admit i have failed you the dear reader and myself the eggnog consumer. 

i could make excuses but truly, it is my responsibility to live up to our title of the #1 eggnog blog on the net, and bring you the latest in world wide web technology.

which is why i am offering a SNEAK PREVIEW of NEXT YEARS advanced interface, we're calling it nogqua a revolutionary new UI for our online eggnog review web portal system where you'll be able to taste the nutmeg on every click. we'll have our team working overtime throughout 2026 to reach this ambitious goal but I believe hard things are worth delaying til next year.

bandista - lack of nog 

i understand not every bar is going to have an eggnog. however, if you are going to go all out and do the "holiday bar" thing you better have a coquito, advocaat, eierlikör or something vaguely eggnog adjacant. 

unfortunately all they had were sherry cocktails, which IS UNACCEPTABLE to the eggnog.blog team and our community.

look out bandista, you're on notice, next year we expect a $64 nog, get aging

betelgeuse - george washington eggnog 

betelgeuse knows they got it right and i don't think they changed a thing from last year and in eggnog world TRADITION IS EVERYTHING.

good nog. also many other holiday drinks to get the spirits going. 

our founding father's knew that in these challenging times we need nog.

Starduster - Chai Eggnog 

Starduster didn't let me down. The chai was scaring me. Creativity and eggnog is typically frowned upon on eggnog.blog but Starduster controlled themselves and added a "hint" of Chai and not starbucks level flavoring. A good solid nog, and honestly i'm not finding a whole lot of nogs out there so, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, nog of the year?

alright, it's go time, my body is ready, i've spent the summer months on a rigorous routine of nutmeg tolerance building, all leading up to this season. Nogs are appearing in Houston. I have yet to enjoy one but I have a bottle of Rosie's nog waiting for me, pray it can continue to live up to its good name.

Starduster Lounge also has a chai eggnog which sounds dangerously creative but it was sold out so i cannot vouch for or defame it

Eggnog Review Roundup - Julep & Tiny Champions 

look, it's january, the party is over, shut it down, closing time, etc.

but I did have a few last minute nogs nogs that deserve a quick mention.

Tiny Champions - Ricotta Nog

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

by now you know, non-trad is risky business.  quickest way to get put on eggnog.blog blast, take your tequillas and oatmilks and get the fuck out with that. HOWEVER tiny's (of course) understood the assignment and came up with "Ricotta Nog" with bourbon, rum, marsala, becherovka (I have no idea what this is), ricotta, cream, egg to come up with something that gives nog the respect it deserves put gets the perfect amount of creamy but ever so slightly unique . as the last nog of the season (i think??) it's hard to top this

Julep - Trad Nog

i like Julep, i really do. they make good drinks, they just can't get the nog down. it was ok. acceptable, but honestly i expect more from them. average thickness. probably my biggest complaint is it wasn't very cold. and a small pour.

see you next year, or maybe i'll see you in July when that bottle of BLT nog has a few months of aging in the fridge and it's NOGMAS IN JULY (i tried to do this last year but the hurricane had different ideas).

Eggnog Riot  

as always i was doing my deep and thorough research for my review and i learned about the great eggnog riot of 1826. apparently when the cadets at west point learned that they would not have booze in the eggnog they smuggled in whiskey and rum, spiked the nog and had a roaring party ending with broken windows, gun-fire and many arrests. that's my type of party.

Betelgeuse - George Washington Nog 

i like my eggnog to have a bit of presidential flair to it (i'm partial to eisenhower's). george washington as he was chopping down cherry trees and crossing the potomac knew what the country needed and it was nog. 

this is trad nog, done right. and the washington location has a firepit, which is where eggnog is best enjoyed. they also have a to-go fifth so you can roam the houston streets and have something to keep you warm inside. 

Bludorn - Nog 

first, lets start with the positive, i had a lovely meal, bludorn's a nice spot. but this ain't no restaurant review site. this is a god damn eggnog blog.

this eggnog just didn't have it going on. it was "milky" thin. like what is this 2% nog, no thx. there were like 2 specs of what i assume was nutmeg. the flavor just didn't have much going on, the only thing that i got much of was the sherry, which seems to be the style this year. pass.

there's always next year (like no really, start aging some nog now)

UPDATE: i looked up to see what is actually in this and it is oatmilk (no), and tonka bean, so not nutmeg.

Yam nog???! 

Crazy nog spotted on the Loose Cannon menu in Spring Branch. I can’t even make this up so I’ll just quote the menu: “candied yam infused egg nog with spiced rum, praline whipped cream & marshmallows” THIS IS NOT TRAD NOG. Can you handle it??!

4 Nog Night - Part 4 - Nobie's

at this point, nog night must end. it is 4 nogs.

how far is too far in the search for the meaning of nog. what am i doing here. what if the eggnog hating doctor is right.

all these questions were answered when the nog was served. it was so good. it was thicc, the flavor, trad af. this is why we do the hard work of running a seasonal eggnog blog.

4 Nog Night - Part 3 - Toasted Coconut Coquito 

the great debate, is a coquito a nog? no, but we treat it like a distant cousin who is fun to hang out with.

so. this is a me problem. i can't drink frozen drinks. i get brain freezes instantly. this is not fun for me. i can't blame toasted coconut for this.

i'm sorry. my companion on 4 nog night (the one and only noghog), i think said he liked it. this was nog 3 so it's all getting hazy. the creams. the nutmegs. what day is it. for this reason i'll give it 4 stars.

4 Nog Night - Part 2 - Nonnos 

so, as you can tell from this title. this was a 4 nog night.  which is a good night. which is a dairy filled night.

preload on lactaid, get some tums ready. it's going down.

So nonnos nog, is a lil different. i'd describe as "nutty" and "bright". if these sound like what you want in your nog, you should get this. if you love sherry you should get this.

me? eh but, again pizza and nog works, i also learned pasta and nog works. it all works.

4 Nog Night - Part 1 - Rosie Cannonball 

For those nogheads who go all the way back to 2023, you'll know rosies wuz #1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ thicc af best eggnog ever.

it brings me no joy to say that this year was not as good as the last. it was a little bit thinner, a little less boozy and just not with the six star. 

i still disclaim it's a good nog, worthy of your consumption

also they have an eggnog gelato, which i'm a believer in seperation of church and state, ie no eggnog flavored things that are not actually eggnog, however.. this was good.

Monkey's Tail - Horchata Nog 

christmas was in the air, the walls covered in tinsel as the disco ball refracted light like snowflakes. and i drank horchata nog.

look this nog has two things going against it that i thought i couldn't get past 1) it has ice 2) i thought tequila nog could not work. it is against the natural order of the world. BUT, it worked and it was enjoyed.

it also pairs well with a rumchata shot and grilled-cheese hotdog to dairy-max.

Coast Line Pizza Eggnog 

Redditor astrodrone reports: "Coastline pizza has an excellent eggnog cocktail on their winter menu (which isn't on their website right now, and I forget the name). Not sure if it qualifies, but it's delicious!" 

The nog street team is intrigued and will investigate, and also wants pizza.

Lei Low, one of the best christmas spots in town swears that they will (do?) have a Coquito. We will hold them to their word.

in the style of a espresso martini I guess? it was OK! I broke the nog seal, and now all bets are off. I would have preferred it with bourbon rather than vodka. I talked to the bartender, he says that's not a problem so look out for an updated review at some point.
